With the large-scale popularization of 5G communication and AI server equipment, high-frequency and high-speed PCBs have become the core substrates of high-end electronic hardware. Different from ordinary FR-4 boards, high-speed PCBs focus on low dielectric constant (Low Dk), low dielectric loss (Low Df), temperature drift stability and impedance consistency. Improper material selection and inadequate process control will easily cause signal attenuation, transmission delay, crosstalk and high-temperature failure, directly affecting equipment accuracy and stability.
In terms of material selection, high-frequency and high-speed scenarios prioritize low-loss substrates such as hydrocarbon resin and modified epoxy resin, matched with HVLP ultra-low-profile copper foil to reduce signal transmission loss fundamentally. Different materials are precisely matched for diverse scenarios: communication base stations and millimeter-wave equipment adopt ultra-low Dk/Df high-frequency substrates; AI servers and high-speed storage devices use high-heat-resistance and low-deformation boards to support long-term high-load operation; industrial control equipment adopts cost-effective modified high-speed FR-4 to balance performance and cost.
Process control determines the final quality of high-speed PCBs. During production, strict control is implemented on layer alignment accuracy, lamination temperature curve, impedance tolerance and surface treatment to avoid delamination, uneven dielectric thickness and impedance deviation. Meanwhile, wiring design is optimized according to high-frequency circuit characteristics to control line width, spacing and via size, reducing electromagnetic interference and signal loss. With rich experience in high-speed PCB manufacturing, Birmin Technology formulates standardized material selection and refined process control systems, providing customized solutions for different frequency bands and working conditions.
For the R&D and mass production of high-speed electronic products, scientific material selection and strict process control are essential prerequisites to ensure high-speed, stable and long-term operation of equipment, forming the core technical barrier of high-end PCB manufacturing.
